Belinder Elementary G.I.V.E.S. to the Heart of America Stand Down - Memorial Day, 2017

Memorial Day weekend, students from Belinder Elementary joined kids4vets at the Heart of America Stand Down, which was held at St. Micheal's Veterans Home in Kansas City, Missouri. The volunteer project was part of the Belinder GIVES (Growth in Volunteer Experience for Students) program, which encourages kids to enhance their community through volunteering. An amazing group of 5th grade students volunteered to host their own own toiletry collection, and then joined kids4vets and prairie volunteers at the the event. The event served to help more than 400 local veterans in need, and highlights the importance of student-run volunteerism in our community.
