About

Kids4Vets is a student-run organization that supports veterans in need in the Kansas City area through volunteer work, toiletry drives, and projects educating kids of the importance of supporting our veterans. Kids4Vets was founded by now-senior Libby when she was in first grade and attended her first volunteer event serving veterans. The organization grew from a one person toiletry collection to a school wide event and to now an organization working across the city. Kids4Vets has been honored to have partnered with countless organizations across Kansas City to serve our veterans. We have worked with the Heart of America Stand Down, the KCVA Stand Down, KCPT Kids, Heart-to-Heart International, St Michael’s Veterans Association, and so many more. Click below to read more of our story and learn about the people that make Kids4Vets what it is today.

Projects

Kids4Vets attended the KCVA Stand Down last September with a group of volunteers. We also participated in the annual Daniel Tiger Be My Neighbor Day making cards with kids to educate them about veterans. In the upcoming school year we plan to hold a collection at Prairie Elementary for the 2025 Stand Down and will create cards with elementary students and high schoolers to send to veterans. We are also looking forward to our first year as a 501c3 and can’t wait to see how this will allow us to help even more veterans. Click below to read blogs from each of our volunteering events.

Get Involved

Kids4Vets would not be possible without involvement and support from the community. We greatly appreciate our volunteers and the organizations that we have partnered with. Thank you to the schools across Kansas City that have donated to Kids4Vets over the years. Your time and dedication to serving the veteran community are greatly appreciated.

As Kids4Vets is now a 501c3 we can accept monetary donations as well as in-kind donations. Visit our get involved page to see how you can donate or start your own collection in support of veterans. Please contact us at info@kids4vets.com with any questions or to partner with us.

Masks 4 Vets, 2020

Libby & Jack Mask Making

I think I'm speaking for everyone when I say that 2020 was hectic. COVID-19 has infected so many people and we were all trying to stay safe but not all people have the correct supplies. Masks were required everywhere you go to help slow the spread of the virus and it's kind of hard to wear a mask when you don't own a mask and you're a resident at St. Michael's Veterans Center. Kids 4 Vets decided to help that by making masks for the 125 veterans living at St. Michael's. Click here to read more of our adventures in mask making.

St. Michael's "Celebration of Heroes"
Guardian Award, 2019

In November 2019, I was honored to attend the "Celebration of Heroes", the annual fundraising event hosted by St. Michael's Veterans Center. The event was held at the WWI Museum at the Liberty Memorial. I was so honored to receive the "Youth Guardian Award", and to meet so many incredible community leaders dedicated to supporting our veterans' community.

Susan Engel, Art Filmore, Libby, & Mayor Quinton Lucas.

Stand Down 2019
