Heart of America Stand Down - Fall 2018

Every year it seems I say the same thing - but this Stand Down truly was the most incredible yet. While of course we love our core group of volunteers, this year we had over twice the number of Prairie students helping out! So many, that we even had to get a giant van to transport everyone to the event. There were 13 fifth graders (people in my grade) and for the first time four second graders, my brother and his friends. We were also happy to hand our thank you notes written by Prairie students. The Prairie gym teacher, Ms. Bosch, came up with this incredible idea and guided students in creating kind, thoughtful cards. Overall, this year's Stand Down was a huge success. Hundreds of veterans received the resources they needed, and more young students learned about the importance of giving back to those who served our country.
