KCPT Daniel Tiger Day - June 2024

We partnered with KCPT again this summer and hosted a table at their annual Daniel Tiger Be My Neighbor Day event. This year’s project was creating poppy cards for veterans. Attendees were able to take different squares of red paper and cut them into petal shapes. They then put the pieces together on a green straw to create a poppy, attached it to a card, and wrote a message to a veteran. These cards will be mailed out to veterans then to show our support for them. This project reinforced the importance of the poppy to veterans and also gave young kids a way to support our troops.

Daniel Tiger Day was hosted on June 22 at the Kansas City Power and Light District and despite the extreme heat we were thrilled to have over 500 attendees. Six of our regular and dedicated volunteers were there to help kids with the project. Thank you volunteers and KCPT for making this event such a success and we can’t wait for Daniel Tiger Day next year.
