KCVA Stand Down - October 2023

For the first time since COVID-19 the Stand Down was brought back to Kansas City. The pandemic sadly shut down the Heart of America Stand Down in 2020 after years of collections and volunteering. While Kids4Vets still found ways to support our veterans through those years, the Stand Down has always been how we can have the greatest impact on the veteran community.

A new Stand Down was started up again this year, put on by the Kansas City Veterans Administration at the KCVA Honor Annex on October 13. We took four volunteers to the event to carry bags for veterans, show them around, help hand out supplies, and make lunch. While we didn’t have a collection this year stay tuned because a toiletry collection is definitely in our future and we can’t wait to work more with the Stand Down in the coming years.
